Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your driver-guide who will brief you on your upcoming adventure. From here, you’ll embark on a scenic 8-9 hour journey to Mgahinga National Park. Along the way, you’ll stop at two major points of interest:
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga National Park & Cultural Encounter
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you’ll head into the forest with an expert ranger guide to track the elusive mountain gorillas. The trek can be physically demanding, with varying distances, so being in good physical shape is essential. Once you locate the gorillas, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
Afterward, return to the camp for a mid-morning meal. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Batwa people, enjoying traditional dance performances and learning about their unique way of life.

After breakfast, you’ll journey for 3 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of the most renowned places in the world to see mountain gorillas. The park is home to the majority of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, and it’s located in the Virunga Conservation Area. The scenic drive offers a chance to appreciate the lush, rolling hills of southwestern Uganda. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing day with optional activities like bird watching, a forest walk, or a community tour.

Following an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your second gorilla trek, this time in Bwindi. Depending on the location of the gorillas, the trek can last anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Once you’ve located the gorillas, you’ll have the privilege of spending one hour observing them in their natural habitat.
After this incredible experience, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, your guide will transfer you to Lake Bunyonyi (approximately 4 hours), the deepest lake in Uganda, known for its stunning scenery and rich birdlife.
